"You must be fucking kidding me." Logan stared incredulously at Jean and Ororo, who were both sporting identical smirks. "No way in hell I'm going to play Santa Claus. No. Fucking. Way."

"Aw, come on Logan," Jean wheedled. "The kids would love it!"

"Yeah, and everyone else'll be laughing their asses off at me." He looked over at the one man he suspected would be laughing the most. But surprisingly enough, Scott didn't even look in their direction, though he again had that longing and sad look in his eyes.

Logan followed Scott's line of sight, and it came to rest on Warren. Somehow, Scott's dejected and almost depressed posture resulted in a nearly violent clenching of Logan's guts. He just couldn't understand why the fearless and confident leader of the X-Men was too shy to ask the other mutant out for a date.

Suddenly, he smiled. "Alright, I'll do it. Under one condition." Logan's smile widened into a grin. "You, Jeanie, are going to play my little helper."

"You want me to play an Elf?" Jean sputtered.

"Yeah." He nodded towards Scott and Warren. "Those two need some help."

Jean's eyes widened, before she started to grin. "Deal. If you playing Santa and me playing an Elf is what it's going to take -- I'm game."

Logan just knew it was a bad idea to slip into the uncomfortable costume. But he had to admit that the big smiles and the joyous laughter of the kids when they had seen 'Santa Claus' more than enough made up for the too tight collar and the fake beard, even if Logan would never say this out loud.

"Only one pair of kids left to gift with a present they won't forget so soon," he muttered into the white mass under his mouth.

He caught Jean's eye as soon as Ororo sent most of the kids to bed. Only the core of the X-Men remained in the TV room, still enjoying the peaceful and relaxed atmosphere of the evening. Fortunately, the two men in question were both seated in front of the huge TV set, watching the nth rerun of 'Scrooged' while enjoying a glass of burnt punch.

Jean levitated some mistletoe over the heads of the unsuspecting men, waiting for anyone to notice it. Finally, it was Rogue who saw the treacherous greenery flowing in midair above Warren and Scott's heads. "Scott! Warren! Look!"

Both looked up at the same moment and blushed fiercely as they realised what Rogue was pointing at over their heads. Scott glared at Jean, who was smiling innocently back at him. "Won't you two kiss?" she asked sweetly.

Scott face turned an even more interesting shade of red than before. "I-- I don't think-- I mean--"

Warren looked fondly at Scott. "I think it's a splendid idea. And we can always blame it on the mistletoe," he said quietly before he pulled Scott near and covered his lips in a sweet kiss.
